2020 March Security Patch For Pixel Devices

The latest Android 10 update for the Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, and Pixel 4 is rolling out today. The March security patch contains the second Pixel Feature Drop.



Here are some of them,

  1. System — Fix for some devices stuck during boot.
  2. Camera — Fix for stuck preview while recording video.
  3. Camera — Fix for overexposure while recording video in certain scenarios.
  4. NFC — Fix for broken NFC functionality with certain apps.
  5. Google Assistant — Fix for UI crash while using Assistant.


There are 12 issues resolved within the March security patch dated 2020-03-01 and 60 for 2020-03-05. Vulnerabilities range from high to critical, with the foremost severe concerning the media framework and a foreign attacker possibly executing arbitrary code through a crafted file.

In the Android Security & Privacy 2018 Year in Review, Google notes that “no critical security vulnerabilities affecting the Android platform were publicly disclosed without a security update or mitigation available for Android devices.” Additionally, there was an 84% year-over-year jump in security patches during Q4 2018 compared to the prior year.
